About Supply Chain Asia Community Print E-mail

Supply Chain Asia was founded on the 1st September 2005 by Paul Lim out of his passion for logistics and supply chain development in Asia.

Paul was formerly a council member in the Singapore Logistics Association from 1996-97, whereby he conceptualized and launched the Integrated Logistics Asia conference in 1998 and 2000. While his first encounter with logistics happened in 1988 when he joined Isetan as a Management Trainee, his real encounter only happened in in 1995 when he joined YCH.

In 1996, Paul attended the Council of Logistics Management (CLM) conference in Florida. The massive number of attendees, the open networking concept as well as the willingess to learn and share, made him believe that Asia needs a similar platform. When he came back, he was disappointed that, while all countries in Asia have some form of logistics and supply chain associations, many are too focused or country-centric to be able to reach out to the entire Supply Chain community. He mooted the idea of setting up a Logistics Professionals Club way back in 1997 but was never able to kick it off.

Today, Supply Chain Asia aims to become a COMMUNITY OF CHOICE for logistics and supply chain professionals in Asia. We want to become a platform and a conduit that will bring these professionals all over Asia and the world together to CONNECT, COMMUNICATE & COLLABORATE. We also seek to collaborate and cooperate with other local, regional and global bodies of supply chain and logistics institutions to enhance the networking and sharing efforts.

With this, we also intend to keep the participation in the virtual community free. Membership to Supply Chain Asia will be FREE for as long as we can sustain it. We will raise funds to support the development of Supply Chain Asia through events such as our Annual Forum and Supply Chain Asia Academy.

We want to invite all who are keen to participate in the growth of this community in Asia to sign up and join us today and together we can make this community a highly successful and interactive one!
